Lisa Mitchell of Huddersfield University was the winner of the first fashion idol and designed an outfit inspired by her family's mining background. Lisa's flair for design and her entreprenenurial spirit secured her place in the final. The strength of the links to Yorkshire of her design pushed her outfit to the next level, and Lisa was announced winner at the 2006 Great Yorkshire Show.

2008 Winner

The title of Yorkshire Fashion Idol 2008 went to Ryan Heard of Huddersfield with an outfit inspired by Victorian coal miners and the Industrial Revolution. His design featured a trench/bomber-style jacket worn over a granddad-collar shirt, with drape-style shorts which ran into a skinny-leg design. The Judges chose Ryan's winning design as his attention to detail was incredible. He was also very organised with his plans for the future, even down to having a full business plan and the judges were sure that he would become a strong brand name.

The dress was box pleated with an empire line and caught the eye of the judges from the early stages of the competition. Phoebe’s ambition and understanding of fabrics and her commercial acumen secured her place in the final, to ultimately be chosen winner in 2007.
